You can change your last name, AKA go from Star Holmes to Star Bucks, or your first name, Star Holmes to Sherlock Holmes. BUT the family you were born with will always stay the same. So unfortunately, your family curse will always be Charmswork

nonverbal means casting without saying the spell, enchantments are spells like fumos. On another note, curses/gifts only mildly effect you, if you practice a certain type of spell, you will still be able to cast it, it is just harder/easier at first than other people.
