Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a wonderful day/night!

Today I'd like to put forward a suggestion for something that has been bugging me, ever since I was sorted into Hufflepuff (> :D)

So, as it currently stands, when a pre-oak is sorted into their Hogwarts House (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin (sorry, I like lists >:3)), this message appears in chat:

[Player] has been added to [House]!

Now, in my opinion, this doesn't look very appealing, and will most-likely look the same to new players. My suggestion will aim to change this :3

I suggest that instead of the message above, something along the lines of

[Player] has just been Sorted into [House]!

or

[Player] pulls the Hat over their ears...

"[House]!" the Sorting Hat shouts.

For an example,

Richela Lupin has just been Sorted into Hufflepuff!

or

Cosette Bell pulls the Hat over their ears...

"Slytherin!" the Sorting Hat shouts.

Something or anything along those lines would work well, as long as it pulls the player straight into the role-playing zone.

Anyway, do what you want with this, although I would really like to see this implimented. Even though it may seem so simple, it will have a huge impact (similar to Ryan Lockhart's suggestion for a new Welcoming message).

I think this is a good idea.

If this were implemented, I wonder if it would be possible to add a sound queue to the resource pack. So whenever someone gets sorted into a House, everyone in the local area would hear the sorting hat shout "(House)!".

I like the following idea. : ]

Cosette Bell pulls the Hat over their ears...

"Slytherin!" the Sorting Hat shouts.

We can add a custom sound to the resource pack and have it play from the person using the hat - Crystal and I have tested a similar thing a while back.

I don't know much about stuff but perhaps a different sound for each house? Perhaps a growl for Gryffindor, a hiss for Slytherin and et-cetera? And maybe a randomized message from perhaps 5 options, to customize it a little but not so much that it's difficult.

This could work well, and perhaps if a student has the last name of a "one house family" (Riddle, Malfoy, Weasely, Potter, Wood, Lovegood etc), the message would say

[Player] pulls the Hat over their ears...

"[House]!" the Sorting Hat shouts, almost as soon as it reaches their head.

Something different for two-house families (Families that are generally only Sorted into two houses, such as Cook, Black, etc), for example

[Player] pulls the Hat over their ears...

"[House]!" the Sorting Hat shouts, after a second of pause.

And so on for "Three House families" and "All-round families"

[Player] pulls the Hat over their ears...

"[House]!" the Sorting Hat shouts, after a pause of thought.

and

[Player] pulls the Hat over their ears...

"[House]!" the Sorting Hat shouts, after a long period of silence.

Also, for the sounds, perhaps as you said, a growl for Gryffindor, a hiss for Slytherin, a Badger's bark (or whatever sound Badgers make :I) for Hufflepuff and a Ravem's caw for Ravenclaw (or an Eagle, seeing as their mascott is an Eagle :I)

But yeah, just an add on to my own suggestion :3

ok, so, the family's all have one house.  and they all have a max of 4 points to give towards that house to bias it.

So I can possibly have diverse messages based on time and all but I CAN ALSO delay when it is announced. ie: it takes a few moments of deliberation before it actually announces it.  If you guys want toe shorting hate to be like that, the first message x pulls hat over their head can go off, then the message about their house can go off after.

@xCoraCat_

Please make a mantis ticket for this, include the delayed response about the hat.  make sure it is labelled feature and assigned to me.
