I was wondering, since I don't like it all the time when peeps call me Commander, sounds a bit too high up, so I am changing my username, but... will it affect the server? or my account on knock-turn forums?

If you have any locked chests, towny, or anything of the sort, they will be stuck on your old username. Before you change it, I suggest locking, or adding your new name to your things.

I dont think that it will affect much, unless you own a shop or bed dorms, they will only need to be updated. My username history has been; X_Steve_X, Hypixellian, X_Steve_X, SJAOM.
I havent ever lost any spell progress or forums to this, I just needed to have my chests unlocked by staff so I could re-loch them under my new username
