I have an idea. Make it tier 15 that way only Y7 can cast it , kind of close to the books/movies and it doesn't make of easy to get to a higher tier because they're isn't one ATM.

woah there, slow down .-.

I feel like that would just be more work than necessary. I see what you mean about people being able to breeze through T9, and I get it, you want people to have to work for it like you had to and others, but T9 in comparison to any higher tier is not a problem.

But the extra work would make the experience so much more canon, and I think that'd be really cool.

Also, Bella's right :P Tier 10 is much easier than Tier 9. It's like how Tier 8 is much easier than Tier 7.

i think the soft-lock thing is a good idea because some people have no life (*ehem* me *ehem*) but instead of spending all their free-time yearing up, they cast spells all the time. It should not be locked to get to a higher tier, but it should be like 3 times more backfire on a tier that is not meant for your year. This would make people want to go to classes more so they could cast more spells. Charms, DADA, and transfiguration sort of teach how to cast spells but whats the point if some people never even go to those classes? In the real series, no one, not even Hermione, learns everything from the spell books. You have to actually go to the school part of Hogwarts to perfect your skills. And this whole server is based around Hogwarts. Hogwarts is a school. It just seems wrong that people can be learning everything without going to classes in a school role-play. On top of all of this, there should be more spells added that you can only learn in classes and you aren't allowed to share with anyone else. For example, bombarda would be a great spell to only be able to learn in a DADA class being a defense spell. I think i got a little off topic here but i might as well say what i want to say. :D

I think the soft lock is stupid af tbh and that people are still going to be year 1 doing tier 9 spells which is stupid because EVEN hermione the 'brightest witch of her age' was not doing that high level spells at such a young age so if we are gonna bother putting a year lock on, there shouldn't be a soft lock.

Tbh a soft lock won't lock anything, it will just make people continue to spam as hard as possible to get them, and it might take them AT MOST a day longer.

What about The Year 1's who are already above tier 3? And year two's above tier 5, etc.?

They wouldn't lose spell data but they would need to year up to use their spells just like when the original tier lock was enforced.

I like this, because it isnt too harsh, but it also forces players to try to year up

But it still will force people to year up, as some spells would then be almost impossible to cast, thus making them year up. So then people get more play time on the server \o/

2 things to counter act your entire argument? You get XP from spell casting. You can also then get the HW from people AFTER classes, and get points that way.

In most cases, you have to have an understanding of the lesson to be able to do the homework, case being History of Magic and Magical Theory.

You do realize every single class has a book right that has all the lessons from the class in it.

Currently there is no Charms or MT book.

I know Charms is in the works but MT I am not sure about yet.
It will be made though.
