Dobby Goshawk and Luna Anderson - Harassing and being Rude. NSFW

Hey. My name is Lilly Knight and I found two players who were being quite rude to me. First, before you say they were just joking and I'm overreacting, I do NOT take these words lightly and will make sure anybody who calls me them is going to be reported.

Another thing, I only screenshotted what they said as I was having messages with friends and other things were happening in global/housechat. You can check my logs to see I did not fight back. You can also check their logs to make sure I did not just make these up. This happened around 10 PM to 1 AM in EST (not exact times, just around)

It all started in History of Magic with Gavin Tripp. Dobby Goshawk, a boy in Ravenclaw, was running around, messing with redstone lamps. He was removed of 2 points and I told him to sit down so we didn't lose more. He started complaining that it was dark, so I was trying to explain how to turn his gamma up *it makes your screen brighter* when he said this: http://prnt.sc/dfgwc6.

I do not enjoy being called this, and I shouldn't really have to explain why. In my opinion if you try to call ANYONE these words, it shouldn't end well.

I asked Dobby why he was being a jerk to me *he said a few more rude things* when I did nothing. Result: http://prnt.sc/dfgwqc

I messaged these to Gracen Night who thus took 4 points from Dobby after class ended. Luna Anderson, who is Dobby's friend, started saying I'm a jerk in Global, though I was doing nothing at all except trying to protect myself. She told me to go to HoM where I could discuss it. I went there and asked what she wanted.

She started to say that it was a joke, and that I'm such a sad little prick that I can't even take a fun joke. I told them that I disliked being called those words. Dobby said this: http://prnt.sc/dfh1hcI again mailed this to Gracen, who used Global to tell Dobby to go to her office.

Gracen told me to leave for a bit so I went to Hagrids to talk with my friend, Ophelia King. *In one of the screenshots you can see her messaging me, you can ask her about this to tell I'm not making it up*

Later in the night Gracen logged off. I thought that Dobby and Luna had left HoM so I went there to spell-spam. I like spell-spamming in HoM as not a lot of people go there and it's fairly large. I also needed to check for homework.

I saw Luna and Dobby were AFK so I started to spam Lumos Duo in the classroom. Note, I have Lumos Duo NV. Luna told me to stop, so I went further into the classroom. Again, I do not take swears very lightly. I only swear when I am very angry, and it is to express, not to attack. I never will swear against a player, and I only will swear when I'm angry in /msg to my friends who are okay with it.

I /mail these screenshots to Gracen, but was told by Cris to put it on the forums for staff to see. Please don't tell me I am overreacting. The rule is you can swear in local if all players agree with it. I did not, and they knew that. I told them to stop calling me the two words they kept saying, yet they kept doing so.

Thank you for bringing this to staff's attention. I'm very sorry you had to experience these interactions especially on a server where swearing and harassment is not to be tolerated at this level. What I can see from more of Dobby Goshawk's logs, is that he continuously broke chat rules (in global) and was extremely rude in his words towards you. This is behavior we do not tolerate, again. Looking through your logs, I can see you very clearly stated to be left alone and were mature in that manner of handling the situation. I think these two players definitely overstepped their place and this behavior turned into a form of harassment as they continuously were mean to you.

From how Luna Anderson responded, she was clearly in the wrong as well calling you those things. To say she can 'do anything as she pleases on this server' is incorrect as we do have specific chat rules and ways of behavior all players are expected to follow.

If I can offer any suggestion in situations like these, is to not threaten the report but more so remind them like "hey these are the rules, I'm bothered by you, please stop or staff will interfere." Simply go ahead and carry through with the report. Threatening to report someone can anger that person more especially when they're a troll and already being rude in this immature way. Situations tend to escalate sometimes unfortunately. I'll make sure to speak with both users when they return from their punishments. One more thing! To prevent situations from turning into something like this, its also important for you as a player to keep your calm and demonstrate how other players should behave as well! I'm not faulting you for this situation at all, but I'm simply saying that individually we can work on not letting these encounters be fueled. I'm sure Dobby didn't enjoy being screamed at, but that certainly didn't justify him in anyway of responding in the extreme manner that he did.

Staff will handle this from here on out though. Make sure to do just what you did though and report situations like these

I was already upset that night due to IRL issues, and I had just earned 2 points for Ravenclaw, and seeing him lose them for a stupid reason made me upset. I know that it isn't an excuse, but that is why. In the future I will try to control my anger and handle the situation calmly. Thank you for your help.
