I have a bit of a dark monitor, so I can't see normally in half the castle. So I suggest you would use some more torches, or make the lumos spell work longer. Wich would be a good idea anyway, because when I use lumos, I don't have time to do nox.

Turn up your monitor's settings - brightness, contrast, gamma. Don't mess with contrast too much or else you'll get...well...contrast Turn your brightness up a bit and turn your contrast down a bit, then up the gamma on the monitor then change your Minecraft brightness, as previously mentioned, to the maximum.
