Is it possible for you to provide what you were doing when you crashed?

Let me take a wild stab in the dark, you're downloading the Texture Pack, but when it's only part-way down, you crash. Right?

It's an input failure. You tried putting something in the it that crashed. Probably texture pack that was too much for your setup, or potentially pasting some text in that was too large for the text field causing a clientside stack overflow.

Basically restart your minecraft and remove your texture packs.

I don't have any texture packs... I can't even log into the world

It just crashes... I don't know what I did wrong.

It was lagging the last time i was on!

Click "edit server" rather than "join server" on your multi-player hub thing and change "Resource pack: Always" to either "Resource pack: prompt" or "Resource pack: never" (may not be the precise words but they get the point across)

I had this same problem and missed half of the dueling tournament.

It's because the server uses it's own (very awesome) texture pack and sometimes it can be a strain on people's computers to get it every time.
