Server making... sorta...

So, recently, I've been trying to make a server based on something else (you don't need to know the details) anyways, if any of the staff could tell me, how do you get a different texture for the wands? Like, I know they all are just wooden shovels, but how did you turn every single wand texture into these different things?

1.9 thing that makes it possible to have different textures for the same object according to different durability values or whatever I think

Oh... Cuz I'm basing my server off of 1.8.9, so that might actually explain a lot.... Thanks anyways.

As Cris stated, 1.9 allows the different dataTags to be used as different textures.
